Real Wedding Project

Joanne & Alex Wedding at Naman Retreat Danang

A Naman Retreat wedding carries a rhythm of its own — the hush before the bride’s entrance, the East Sea breathing behind the arch, golden hour folding into candlelight. For Joanne & Alex, a Hong Kong couple living in the UK, that rhythm became a full day of celebration: a traditional tea ceremony in red and gold, a heartfelt Cantonese ceremony on the sand, cocktails on the lawn, and a dinner reception wrapped in flowing drapery inside Naman Hall. Styled in our “Sage & Mocha Serenade” palette against the resort’s coastal architecture, this Naman Retreat Danang wedding reflects what we do best as a trusted planning partner of the resort: translating a couple’s story, language, and traditions into a seamless destination celebration on the Danang coastline. Naman Retreat Wedding: Joanne & Alex’s Beach Celebration in Danang

Planning a Naman Retreat wedding begins, for us, with a single question: how should this place feel on your day? When Joanne and Alex first reached out, the answer arrived quickly. They wanted warmth without formality, elegance without distance — a celebration where grandparents, childhood friends, and colleagues who had flown across the world would all feel equally at home. On March 28, 2026, with seventy guests gathered on the sand, that vision came to life.

A Love Story That Crossed Continents

Joanne and Alex’s story began in Hong Kong, where the two first crossed paths as colleagues — and where a shared circle of friends, bonded over board game nights, slowly wove their lives together. Life later carried the couple to the United Kingdom, where they built their home, but their hearts stayed anchored to the people they grew up with: friends Joanne has known since she was three, Alex’s childhood gang of six, and the colleagues who watched their love quietly take root. So when it came time to marry, they chose neither London nor Hong Kong, but a meeting point — the Danang coastline, where everyone could gather for a few unhurried days by the sea.

A Hong Kong Tea Ceremony at Naman Retreat

Before the beach ceremony began, the day opened with one of Hong Kong’s most cherished wedding traditions — the tea ceremony. Joanne was radiant in a hand-embroidered qun kwa of red and gold, her wrists stacked with golden dragon-and-phoenix bangles gifted by family, while Alex stood beside her in a midnight-velvet jacket richly embroidered in gold over traditional red trousers. Together they knelt to serve tea to their parents and elders, receiving blessings and lai see in return — and stole a kiss beneath a red wedding lantern. Held within their light-filled villa at Naman Retreat, the morning carried the weight of home — proof that a destination wedding need not leave tradition behind, only give it a more beautiful backdrop.

A Beach Wedding Ceremony in Two Languages, One Heart

The ceremony unfolded on Naman’s beach, where a round floral arch with softly elongated legs framed the couple against the open horizon. Pampas, orchids, and blush roses lined a gentle, wavy walkway — the path Alex walked with his father, and Joanne with her grandmother. The vows were exchanged in Cantonese, officiated by Harry, one of Alex’s own groomsmen — a wedding held not in front of their people, but truly among them. Every cue, from the veil lift to the smoke-bomb kiss and the two-row confetti send-off, was choreographed to the minute. Having planned numerous weddings for Hong Kong couples, our team understands the cadence of a Cantonese ceremony, and we build our run-sheets around it.

Sage & Mocha Serenade: The Reception at Naman Hall

The design concept, “Sage & Mocha Serenade,” moved through the day in quiet layers — blush and dusty pink at the ceremony, deepening into mocha, taupe, and sage green by evening. Cocktails unfolded on the lawn by the beach beneath coconut palms before guests moved into Naman Hall, where ceiling drapery cascaded in soft champagne tones above long dining tables dressed with bespoke menus, candlelight, and lush centerpieces. Heartfelt speeches flowed from both families and the couple’s closest friends, followed by a two-tone sage and ivory cake, a cold-fog first dance on a personalized monogram floor, and a sparkler send-off that lit the night sky.

Joanne & Alex’s Naman Retreat Danang wedding is, to us, the essence of a destination celebration done well: deeply personal, culturally fluent, and effortlessly executed at one of Vietnam’s most beloved beach resorts.
